Robert Matthew Van Winkle, known professionally by his stage name Vanilla Ice, is a Texas-born American rapper, actor, and television host. He released his debut album, ‘Hooked’, in 1989 on Ichiban Records.

After working with Ichiban, he signed a recording deal with SBK Records, a record label of EMI Group, which produced a reformatted version of his debut album in 1990 with the title ‘To the Extreme’, which contained Vanilla’s best-known hits: ‘Ice Ice Baby’  and ‘Play That Funky Music’.
