The Nigerian senior football team, Super Eagles, left Nigeria on Wednesday afternoon to the United Kingdom as part of preparations for their FIFA World Cup Campaign, which kicks off on June 14.
The Super Eagles are billed to play England on Saturday June 2nd in a friendly before leaving for Austria and from there to Russia for their World Cup Campaign. Their first match is on June 16 where they face Croatia.
Twenty Five players left for UK including, Skipper Mikel Obi, deputy skipper Ogenyi Onazi, defender Kenneth Omeruo, Winger Ahmed Musa and others.
Chelsea FC Victor Moses is set to join the team in London and alongside Mikel, Onazi, Omeruo and Musa all represented Nigeria in the 2014 World Cup Campaign.
The team will train at Wembly stadium, the venue of their Saturday friendly with England, between 5pm and 6pm on Friday. In addition, a pre-match press conference will also hold at the stadium’s conference room by 4.15pm same day.
This will be the third official match between Nigeria and England and the highly anticipated clash will give an indication as to how prepared the Super Eagles are, in their determination to exceed the previous achievements at the tournament.
Meanwhile, there is some good news for the Nigerian team as Moses Simon, who had been earlier ruled out of the tournament may still feature; the Nigerian team has confirmed that he will undergo further medical tests in UK to ascertain his fitness level.
