Simon Cowell was born Simon Phillip Cowell in Lambeth, London on 7 October, 1959, to Eric Selig Philip Cowell and Julie Brett. He has a younger brother, three half-brothers, and a half-sister.
Simon Cowell attended Radlett Preparatory School and later, the independent Dover College, but left as soon as he took GCE O levels. He enrolled in Windsor Technical College and gained another GCE in Sociology. After graduating, he took up a few menial jobs to be able to sustain himself.
In 1980, Simon Cowell worked as a runner in the horror film The Shinning by Stanley Kubrick, but failed to get along well with bosses and colleagues, until his father an executive at EMI Music Publíshing, got the TV star a job in the mail room.
