Nigerian musician, Naira Marley whose real name is Azeez Fashola has been released from prison custody.
On Friday, the Nigerian rapper who was arrested and charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on an 11 count charge of advance fee fraud was released after perfecting his bail condition.
The release of the artiste was confirmed on Instagram by ex-Big Brother Naija housemate, Khloe.
Together with a picture of Naira Marley, Ex-BBnaija housemate wrote, “So, today that I decided to visit, we walked out together as a free man.”
On May 30, Remember that BUSY TAPE had reported that the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi granted bail to the singer.
At the resumed bail application, the Nigerian rapper’s lead defence counsel whose real name is Olalekan Ojo, apologised for his absence at the initial arraignment on May 20.
Olalekan Ojo pleaded with the court to accept the bail application prima facie based on the presumption of his innocence in accordance with Section 162 (1).
The defence also pleaded that a liberal approach is taken in hearing the bail application.
The prosecution counsel that was led by Rotimi Oyedepo, however argued that it is not the temporary release of the singer that mattered but the final judgment.
Therefore, Rotimi Oyedepo, urged the court to grant accelerated hearing rather than bail.
He added that since the lawyer of the Nigerian Celebrity said the defendant is a celebrity, then his actions and in-actions have a multiplier effect on youths in the entire federation.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo, in a ruling after listening to the defence and prosecution arguments, granted the Nigerian artiste bail to the sum of two million naira and two sureties.
