Michael Reubens Bloomberg was born in Boston, Massachusetts, United States on February 14, 1942. After he completed high school, he enrolled at John Hopkins University from where he graduated in 1964 earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. After getting his first degree, he proceeded to Harvard Business School from where he graduated with a master’s degree in business administration in 1966.

After graduating from Harvard Business School with a master’s degree in business administration in 1966, Michael got employed at Salomón Brothers, a known Wall Street investment bank. However, he was fired when the bank was purchased by another firm, Phibro Corporation, in 1981. He was laid off with a $10 million severance package.
