Jimmy fortune is an American country music singer. He was born on March 11, 1965 in Williamsburg, Virginia, United States. For the 21 years he was with The Statler Brothers he sang Tenor, and wrote the song Elizabeth for the group. He continued performance as a solo artist after The Statler Brothers Retired. Jimmy went to Nelson County Highschool, Lovingston, Virginia. He grew up in Nelson County, Virginia.

Jimmy Fortune Career

Lew DeWitt was the Original tenor of the music group The Statler Brothers. He was suffering from Crohn’s disease at that time and needed somebody to replace him in the group temporarily. When he heard Jimmy Fortune sing, he asked him to come to Nashville and audition for the band. In 1982 Jimmy fortune started performing with the Statler Brothers. When Lew DeWitt was not able to return to the group, Jimmy fortune joined the group permanently.

Jimmy Fortune wrote various chart topping songs that were recorded by the Statler Brothers. Some of his efforts includes My Only Love, Elizabeth, and Too Much On My Heart. He spent 21 years singing, touring, and performing with the group.

In 2002, three members of the Statler Brothers – Phil, Dan and Harold retired. Jimmy started performing and recording extensively as a solo artist in the United States and Canada. He has continued his career as a songwriter and has recorded a number of self-produced projects in Nashville. In 2015 he released Hits & Hymns. This record was produced by Ben Isaacs. The album reached the Billboard Top Country Albums chart Top Ten.
