Howard was born Howard Allan Stern On the 12th of January in 1954 in Jackson Heights, New York. Howard’s family happens to be Jewish. The radio host’s mom Ray stern used to be an office clerk in New York before her children arrived. Howard’s dad was in the army and served in the Second World War after which he worked at WHOM in the city of Manhattan as a radio engineer. His dad also co-owned a studio called Aura Recording Inc. where cartoons and commercials were created. Howard Allan Stern has an older sister, Ellen.
Howard’s family moved to Long Island, New York in 1995 where Stern went to Washington Rose Elementary School and then proceeded to Roosevelt Junior Senior High School. Howard’s family relocated again, this time to Rockville Centre. Howard had to transfer to South Side High School at age 15. He went to the Studio Engineering Institute of Electronics in Virginia where he got a radio-telephone operator license with which he got a job at WNTN in Massachusetts.
