You just have to figure out how to tweak it a little in your direction.

And so, let’s get it started!!

Genetics and getting that flawless skin ( Skin type)

Flawless Skin Care

Before we begin sharing those tips, let’s get to the basics of your skin type.

According to scientists, there are over 20,000 to 25,000 different genes. The difference between my skin type and yours is simply your DNA. Your skin is predisposed to act or react to certain conditions because of the kinds of genes you have. So, those biggest skin conditions that have always been a source of concern for you comes from your family tree.

We have 5 different skin types including:

  1. Dry – With this skin type, your skin will fill tight and itchy all the time. This almost feels like you just can’t get enough moisture into it.
  2. Oily – This skin type products lots of oil. It’s always oily or greasy. With this sky type, you will be more prone to blemishes.
  3. Normal – There’s really no such thing as normal. But this skin is not too dry or oily. It’s somewhere in the little of both. And off course there are some blemishes to deal with.
  4. Combination – With this skin type, you have had a bit of the normal affair around your jawline and cheeks. But areas around the nose, chin, and forehead will be more oily.
  5. Sensitive – This skin type is prone to irritation. It can be dry, red or itchy when exposed to different weather conditions. Even a light dab of your favorite fragrance can put you in hot water.

B. Inherited skin conditions

As said earlier, we can also inherit skin challenges from our family tree. These are usually more specific concerns and they will come and go from time to time. People across all skin types will experience these conditions. Some of them include:

  • Dehydration
  • Acne
  • Rosacea
  • Eczema
  •  Hyperpigmentation
  • Psoriasis
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging
  • Keratosis Pilaris

There’s even a study that genetics may also play a role in the possibility of getting some skin cancers. In addition, if you have freckled skin, you should wear more sun protection, because your skin type burns easily which poses a higher risk of skin cancer.

C. Wrinkles

We inherit how fast we age. There’s almost nothing you can do about it. But you can definitely slow it down by taking more time to give your skin the right care. Generally, the oily skin produces more sebum which may help prevent wrinkles. However, some other studies suggest that rapid wrinkling is more noticeable on people with a fairer skin than those with darker or olive complexions.

D. Our Skincare actions

Yup, genetics do go a long way. It is general knowledge that we pick up the habits of our siblings and parents unconsciously. But it’s time you separated those annoying habits that are doing you more harm than good. For instance, do you find yourself visiting the markets without even an inch of sun protection simply because your mum got away with it?

Do you always go to bed with layers of makeup merely because your older sister got away with it? Smoking, binging on alcohol and junk food are just the little things that are wrecking your skincare routine.

You must understand that there’s no amount of expensive skin care regimen that’s going to work for you if you went on with those habits.

10 Habits of People with Flawless Skin

So what differentiates your skin regimen from those individuals you see out there, whose skin you desire. Habits!.

These individuals have their entire life focused on some key actions which contribute to the health of their skin, hair, body, and mind. Many of these habits are quite simple. But a good number of us seem to have problems getting these actions into our normal routine. Well, these are the routines that will get you that flawless skin you’ve always craved.

  1. They have about 7 hours of Sleep every day

Get your beauty sleep! You can’t catch up on a flawless skin without it. Even if you have a team of makeup artists around you. Without a pretty good base skin. It’s usually a nightmare.  It’s hard to look youthful and gorgeous when you have raccoon eyes and zits around your face. A 2010 research showed that you only become more attractive, when you have has about 8 hours of sleep every night.

2. They slather on protection every other day

You need a bit of sunlight on your skin. Its really good for you to come out between the hours of 7 and 10 am in the morning. The rest won’t work at all and will contribute to skin thinning, wrinkles, facial lines, freckling and even the development of skin cancer.

You must protect your skin daily against the sun. Appy sunscreens with UVB and UVA light. Make sure to reapply every two hours, if you will be spending a lot of time under it. UV rays are the strongest between 10 am and 4 pm.

Supplement with protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. You should also know that even on a very cold and cloudy day, you are still susceptible to the sun-rays. Those hours of 10 am to 4 pm has the sun right in the sky whether there’s direct sunlight or not.

3. They know the proper way to relax

How do you find your zen zone? I do know that a good number of us are not Chinese and may not even know what I do mean. I’m asking where do you find rest. Where, how and when do you seek to get that balance. It’s not about when you drop off to bed in exhaustion. According to Mono Gohara, Stress can worsen many kinds of skin problems especially rosacea and psoriasis. It brings about higher levels of cortisol, which breaks down elastin and collagen ultimately leading to wrinkles. Find a proper spot for rest. This can be your bedroom or just a little corner of the kitchen. Decorate that corner with the things you love. It may be with scents, crafts, books or even a splash of color.

4. They moisturize regularly

Sustaining the water content in your skin is crucial to keeping it healthy. When you moisturize, you slow down the process of losing water and strength your skin barrier. If you have a sensitive skin type, try using products that contain ceramides or other kinds of lipids. In the dry winter, slather in a lot of moisturizer on all areas of your body. In the warmer months, you can ease up on this use, maybe moisturizing only at night.

No matter your skin type, it is very important you keep your skin moist and soft.

5. They’ve got a regular workout routine

For a lot of our mothers who spend the whole day outdoors selling their wares. They seem to feel that they are doing a lot of exercises. But the reverse is the case. When you check out the fact that you have got cortisol (fat) stores around your stomach and hip, you may want to reconsider your definition of exercising.

Exercises and stress are entirely different. Exercises get your body and heart working and burning away stuff. Stress may induce sweat and discomfort, but it increases your fat levels rather than help you lose them. Take out 30 minutes every day and go jogging or skipping. It will help you lose a lot of weight.

6. They wash their faces at night

The Sun is not the only environmental factor that works against us. You also have to deal with dirt, winds and other kinds of air pollutants. In our country, you will be dealing with smoke and many cancer-causing organisms.

It is important you take a special time to clean your face thoroughly before taking your bath. I mean, your face should have a dedicated cleaning time and cleaning materials. When you allow all that yucky debris to stick to your face, you may be weakening your skin.

7. They don’t indulge in that Excess Sugar

We all love a sugar-coated food from time to time. But this daily candy habit will not only damage your waistline but age your face. High glycemic food like white carbohydrates and sugary sweets increase your cortisol levels. Get rid of the extra sugar in your diet. Use healthy fats like olive oil, antioxidants ( veggies) and vitamin C ( berries and citrus fruits).

8. They don’t prick or pop pimples and blemishes

Many of us have indulged in popping or picking blemishes. These habits disrupt your epidermis leading to a little bleeding that might create a permanent scar on your skin. Rather than force them to open up, steam them and apply a bit of medication to avoid burns and permanent damage. If your pimple looks too stubborn, then you should see a dermatologist, who may inject you with a diluted cortisone injection.

9. They are gentle on your skin

Scrubbing your face may look as though you are actually getting it clean. But its the reverse scenario. When you work too hard on your skin, you increase inflammation which leads to swelling on the surface, clogged pores, and increased blemishes. Treat your skin gently, and limit exfoliating to one a week.

10. They don’t give in to every fad diet

There’s always one latest hot product out there but are they really worth it. The key to getting your skin on track lies in the little things. People with flawless skin, save their money for real products. They buy sun protection, medications (proven to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles) including moisturizers.
