Donnie Mcclurkin Parents

Donald Andrew Mcclurkin II was born to Frances McClurkin and Donald Andy McClurkin Snr on November 9, 1959 in Chester, South Carolina in the United States of America. When McClurkin was 8years old, his two year old brother was struck and killed by a speeding driver. As a result of this loss, Donnie MCclurkin experienced family turmoil. Thereafter, his great uncle abused him sexually and years after that his great uncle’s son did same to young Donnie. The abuse left long-term scars as he later struggled with homosexuality, McClurkin found solace in the local church groups and became active in gospel choirs from the tender age of nine. By the time he was a teenager, he formed his own gospel group called “The McClurkin Singers” with the members of his family and close friends. He later formed another group “The New York Restoration Choir”.

Donnie Mcclurkin Ministry  

As an adult, McClurkin served as an associate minister to Reverend Marvin L. Winans for over a decade at Perfecting Faith Church in Detroit, Michigan, in 1989. At 31 years of age, he battled and overcame Leukemia through his faith, which had threatened to take his singing abilities as well as his life. By 2001, he was ordained and sent out by Reverend Marvin Winans to establish Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York, where he presides as Senior Pastor till date.

Reverend Winans helped Donnie McClurkin secure a recording contract for a solo project. The debut was self-titled and was completed in 1996. The debut, which featured the eternally popular “stand” as well as gospel classics like “Holy, Holy, Holy” got publicly lauded by Oprah Winfrey and shortly after that, the debut won a gold record. McClurkin’s recording career had an excellent start off. He won a Grammy Awards in the category of Traditional Soul Gospel Album, for “Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs”.  He is best known for his hit songs “Stand” and “We Fall Down” which have been played repetitively on Gospel and Urban radio. In most live performances, McClurkin includes a language medley; Japanese, Russian, Spanish and Dutch, this medley was borne out of his love for people and a deep desire to share gospel music globally. McClurkin’s three solo albums have topped the Billboard Charts. He also published an inspirational memoir “Eternal Victim, Eternal Victor” He wrote in details about his own recovery from sexual abuse and his struggle to define his sexuality in according to his Christian principles.

In 2016, it was said that McClurkin had entered a relationship with singer-songwriter Nicole C. Mullen. Though not yet married, Donnie Mcclurkin at various interviews has expressed his desire to get married but he is afraid of falling in marriage. Unfortunately his relationship with Nicole didn’t go well.

Donnie McClurkin has two children, a son Mathew and daughter, Michelle.

Donnie McClurkin got signed to T&T creative by Tom Versen and Tony Sisti to a radio syndication deal with Dial-Global and Gary Bernstein. T&T creative provided Pastor Donnie’s Church with a mobile recording Studio. He started his own television series broadcast; “Perfecting Your Faith” on cable television.  His appearances on television includes; Good Morning America, CBS’s The Early Show, The view, Girlfriends and The Parkers.
