· Dimitri Payet Early Career
From the French Island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean surfaced the great Payet. And it was within this Island, that he began his football career by playing for local club Saint-Philippe. He was so talented and skillful, but he stayed there to undergo real developmental training. After three years, he left the club to join JS Saint-Pierroise, which was among the best teams on that island, at that time.
After a year, he was signed by Le Havre, which is a professional football club in Metropolitan France. Payet really had hard times in Le Havre football club, however, he remained with the team for about four years before he left them in 2003 back to Réunion to play for AS Excelsior.
Here, he spent only about a year and a half before moving on to a two-year deal with Nantes football club of France.

When Payet arrived at the Nantes football club, he was placed in their reserve team. The reserve team plays in the Fourth Level League when it comes to football in France. On the 22 July 2009, Dimitri Payet extended his stay in the club, by signing a two-year contract that will last till 2013. In the 2009/2010 season, Payet played 35 matches for his club, he scored two goals and supported with six assists. He also performed very well in Coup de France.
In the 2010/2011 season, Payet was outstanding, scoring 7 goals in the first two months of domestic play. On August 29, 2010, Payet scored his first professional hat-trick, in a match against Lens that ended 3-1. Due to his performance, he was awarded the UNFP Player of the Month.
His outstanding performance also helped his team secure the number spot on the France national league table. Due to his great performance, big clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, PSG, and many others began making moves to sign Payet.
He was supposed to be signed to PSG but his club refused. Because of this, Payet became unhappy and began acting out by failing to appear for practice in an effort to force his club to release him. He was penalized for this and he was demoted to their reserve team. On the 12 of February 2011, he returned back to his club’s main team starting lineup, in a match against Lyon. In the remaining 14 matches of the 2010/2011 season, Payet scored 5 goals and helped with three assists. He scored a total of 13 goals. He was the highest goal scorer of his team.

In 2011, he left Saint-Étienne and joined Lille who was the defending champions in the last season. The transfer fee was worth 9 million euros plus other future benefits that will be added later. His first debut for the club was on the 27th July 2011, in a trophy match against Marseille. His first league appearance for his club was on the 6th of August in a match against Nancy. He scored his first goal for the club on the 15th of October 2011 in a match against Auxerre that ended 3-1 in favor of his team. He ended the season the 2011/2012 season scoring six goals and supporting with six assists. Out of his 38 appearances, he started 23 times and came as a substitute for the remaining 15 times.

On the 27th of June 2013, Payet was signed by Olympique de Marseille of France for a sum of about 11 million euros. On his debut for Marseille, he scored a very wonderful goal within the first 15 minutes of the match against Guingamp. This march ended in a 3-1 victory in favor of Marseille. Payet was so outstanding in the second season especially with regards to his numerous successful through-passes.

He could not play the Europa finals because he suffered an injury and he also missed the chance to play in 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

As French International, Payet has represented his country at different levels. In 2007-2008, he represented his country in the under-21 category, appearing eleven times and winning about four goals.
In 2010, the French senior team manager, Laurent Blanc invited Payet to the team for the first time. It was with this deal that Payet made his first international debut for France national team on the 9th of October 2010, in a UEFA Euro 2012 Qualifying match against Romania.
