D’Banj, whose real name is Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo was born on the 9th of June, 1980 in Zaria, Kaduna State of Nigeria. His stage name D’Banj was formed from his first name and last name which has ultimately become a brand and a household name across all divides.
The significant thing about D’Banj is the entertaining approach that he brings to his style of performance, which is why he is likened to as the ‘Entertainer’. The Koko master started off his early days following after the steps of his late father as a military man by enrolling in the Nigerian Military School at the age of eleven. However, he disengaged from there after three years and then proceeded to the Nigerian Navy Secondary school, Abeokuta, where he finished his secondary school education.
Upon completion of his secondary school education, he moved on to Lagos State University, where he studied Mechanical Engineering but due to frequent strikes and irregularities he opted out of the university and moved to London to further his education, but still couldn’t get through with his education.

Interestingly, ‘Ejanla’ which is yet another of his nicknames was introduced to the harmonica by his late senior brother, Femi Oyebanjo who died alongside his father in a plane crash; he then consciously played this harmonica to remember his late brother and this became a part of him that he never did without in his performances in shows and events.
D’Banj, apparently started off his music career in London when he met with Don Jazzy and they began working together but then the two friends returned back to Nigeria in 2004 and released ‘Tongolo’ which video recording was paid for by his mother even though his father dissapproved of his music adventure when he was alive.The single became a mega hit back then.
D’banj went on to release many hit songs and equally worked and collaborated with several artistes from both local and international scenes.
Among the big international artistes were Kanye west, Big Sean, Fally Ipupa, Snoop Dogg, Akon, etc. On the local scene he has worked with almost every A list artist including; Tuface, Don Jazzy, Olamide, Kay Switch and Dr. Sid and others.

D’BanJ got married to Lineo Didi Kiglow in 2016 and they had a son named Daniel Jr. Unfortunately they lost their son in a swimming pool tradegy.

He has so many mouthwatering endorsement deals with multinational companies and organisations.
D’banj signed endorsement deal with companies like Power Fist, an energy drink company; and went on to sign a deal with the Bank of Industry (BOI) as an ambassador in 2013.
He also secured another deal with Heritage bank in 2014 as their ambassador. D’banj was also made the official African ambassador in Nigeria for Beats by Dre in the same year 2014. He has other deals including Globacom and Slot Ltd, including others.
