Born on July 22, 1946 in San Francisco, Danny Glover is the son of Carrie (nee Hunley) and James Glover, who were both postal workers. His parents were also active in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), working hard in the advancement of equal rights.
His father who was a World War II veteran was a graduate of George Washington High School while his mother Carrie graduated from Paine College in Augusta, Georgia.
Glover who suffered epilepsy as an adolescent and young adult attended San Francisco State University (SFSU) in the late 1960s. Unfortunately, he did not graduate but was later honored by the SFSU with the Presidential Medal of San Francisco State University for his service to education.
