Richard Mofe Damijo aka RMD is a prolific actor, lawyer, politician and businessman and is a name to be reckoned with when it comes to the Nigerian(Nollywood) movies. This article covers his biography, career and other information about him.


Richard Mofe Damijo aka RMD, as he is fondly called by his fans was born on the 6th of July, 1961 in Aladja community of Udu kingdom near, Warri in Delta State of Nigeria. He attended the Midwest College in Warri and the Anglican Grammar school and was a member of the drama club.

After completing his primary and secondary education, he got admitted into the University of Benin to his study Theatre Arts.

In 1997, he returned to the University of Lagos to study Law at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2004 with a Master’s Degree in Law.

He is also a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State of Nigeria.


Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) practically began his acting career after he quit a media job as a Journalist. He joined the Nigeria movie industry (Nollywood) after that and acted in his first television soap opera titled ‘Ripples’

Remarkably, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) has acted in well over two hundred (200) Nollywood movies, some of which includes ‘Out of Bound’, Hostages, Scores to Settle, Diamond Ring, The Messenger, amongst others.

However, the movie titled ‘Out of Bounds’ was the first film where he received a writer/producer credits at the maiden edition of the African Movie Academy awards in 2005 and won the award for the Best Actor in a Leading Role.

RMD was first married to May Ellen-Ezekiel, a Nigerian journalist /publisher whom died in 1996.

However, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) got married again to Jumobi Adegbesan who was a TV personality with AIT then and they both have four children together.


Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) has endorsement deals with several multinational companies most notable of which is Globacom.


Being one of the richest and most influential and celebrated male actor in Nollywood including his various business interests, RMD is estimated to be worth about $5 million dollars.
