Omoba Adekunle Kosoko, is a well known Nigerian singer, songwriter and graphics designer with the stage name Adekunle Gold. Adekunle describes his genre of music as “urban highlife”.

Adekunle Gold was born on 28th January 1987,  into the Kosoko royal family of Lagos State, Nigeria. The singer holds a Higher National Diploma in Arts and Design from the Lagos State Polytechnic.


While growing up, Adekunle Gold became interested in music because of his love for songs by King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey. The creative artist and songwriter became a member of his church’s junior choir when he was just a teenager, and went on to write his first song when he was only 15.

In 2014, he went solo after he disbanded a music group he created with a friend while in school.

Adekunle Gold’s  2014 single “Sade” received massive airplay on different Nigerian radio stations. His follow-up single, “Orente”, also received massive airplay and positive reviews from music critics and consumers as well.

In 2015, Adekunle was signed to YBNL Nation. Under this label, he released his debut studio album “Gold”.

The ” Gold” album is a 16-track project, with musical production from Masterkraft, Pheelz, B Banks, Oscar, Sleekamo, and Seyikeyz.

The album was released on 25 July, three days before the normal scheduled date of release. Upon the release of the album, it peaked at #7 on the Billboard World Album Chart for the week on 13th of August 2016. “Gold” was critically reviewed by popular contemporary music critics.

After his contract with YBNL Nation expired, Adekunle Gold unveiled his band “The 79th Element” named after the atomic number of gold.

On the 15th of January, 2018, Adekunle Gold became the brand ambassador of Unity Bank.


Adekunke Gold is rumored to be dating singer SIMI, but neither he nor her has dispelled or confirmed these rumors. He has however admitted to being in a relationship but has refused to reveal the identity of his lover.
